Loose Lips

See what your photo gives away, then send a clean copy of it.

What it does

Every photo carries more than the picture. Loose Lips reads that hidden information and says it in plain words — where the photo was taken, when, which phone took it, and the extras most people never see, like serial numbers, maker notes and an embedded thumbnail.

Then it hands you a clean copy. For HEIC, JPEG and PNG the picture itself is copied untouched — not re-compressed — and the app checks that on your device before it tells you so. If it ever cannot manage that, it says Re-encoded at maximum quality instead of quietly pretending otherwise.

What it does not do

  • It never modifies your original. The clean copy is a new file.
  • It keeps no history, no account and no analytics.
  • It does not claim to make a photo anonymous or untraceable, and it is not a forensic tool.
  • Video is copied without re-encoding, but no pixel check is claimed for video.
  • RAW and DNG are not supported yet — they are reported and left untouched.

Common questions

Does anything leave my phone?

No. Everything happens on the device. The only thing that can reach the network is the map preview, and only if you tap it — the screen tells you so before you do.

Why does it ask for Photos access?

Only when you choose Save, and only add-only access, so it can put the clean copy next to your original. It never reads your library.

What about a Live Photo?

The still picture is cleaned, including the id that pairs it with its video. The motion is not carried over, and the app says so on the clean copy rather than letting you find out later.

Why is orientation and colour kept?

Because removing them is the classic stripper bug: your picture comes out rotated or with shifted colours. Those two tags stay; everything identifying goes.
